Official Review on Blokees Transformers One Chapter 5 Model Kit Set of 9
Today, I’d like to share a toy with you: the Blokees Assemble Figures “Transformers All-Star Series Volume 5 - Origins.” This time, the lineup includes Optimus Prime (hidden and regular editions), B127 (Bumblebee), Wheeljack, Orion Pax, Ironhide, Hound, D-16 COG (Megatron), The Fallen, and Tracker, for a total of 10 figures.
Once again, unfortunately, I didn’t get the hidden edition. For those who did, feel free to share in the comments! Let’s take a look at how each character turned out.
▲The front of the large box packaging prominently features real images of the nine regular characters. The upper part displays the title “Transformers All-Star Series Volume 5 - Origins,” while the bottom has the slogan, “Unveiling a New Chapter of Movie Origins!” The upper-left and lower-left corners carry the Blokees logo, and the upper-right and lower-right corners show the Transformers logo. The overall design is similar to others in the series, so we won’t go into further details.
▲The blind box packaging continues the style of the All-Star series, with a striking holographic reflective effect. This time, the cover characters are Optimus Prime and Megatron (known as D-16 in the movie, but let’s stick with Megatron), shown in their upgraded forms after obtaining the Transformation Cog.
One side of the blind box shows the frontal images of the 10 characters along with their probabilities.
▲Each blind box includes: one general instruction manual, a bag of assembly parts, a base, a bag of hand-shaped parts, and a round paper character card.
After unpacking and spreading out the parts, the assembly process remains as smooth and enjoyable as ever. There are two hand options: clenched fists and open hands. The base lacks a stand or effect parts, but notably, every character comes with a weapon. Although these figures cannot transform, their articulation is quite good, and with the base, most poses can be easily displayed.
▲As the main antagonist in the Origins movie, The Fallen features golden accents on the head, with detailed sculpting on both sides of the head, the chest, the hips, and the knees. The lower legs also have silver paint, and the knees are made from separate parts. The weapons include two large blades with golden paint on the handles and grips, as well as textured sculpting on the blades, though they are unpainted. The two blades can also combine into a double-edged sword. The wings on the back are dynamic, with ball joints at the base providing good articulation.
▲Tracker, as a grunt character, still performs admirably. The silver mask gives it a resemblance to Iron Man, and while the eyes lack paint, the sculpting creates a distinct visual effect. The left shoulder features two red paint details, giving it a squad leader vibe, and the hips are also decorated with paint. Its weaponry includes a large gun and an arm cannon, providing substantial firepower. There’s a sizable backpack on the back, though it’s not obvious from the front. The wings can only move forward and backward, with less articulation compared to The Fallen.
▲Optimus Prime features intricate paint details for the Matrix of Leadership on his chest. The head, abdomen, hips, and lower legs all have detailed paintwork, while the thighs, forearms, smokestacks, and backpack are coated in silver paint rather than bare plastic. His weapons include a large gun with gunmetal paint detailing and a transparent blue axe that connects to the forearm via a ball joint.
Megatron’s chest and left shoulder display the Decepticon insignia, with the chest emblem appearing as if it was self-carved. The abdomen and hips are highlighted with painted details, and the red details on both sides of the abdomen are separate parts. His weapons include the iconic large arm cannon and an additional smaller arm cannon.
▲Orion Pax’s chest features detailed sculpting to show the absence of the Transformation Cog. The head, abdomen, hips, and lower legs all have painted details, while the smokestacks and backpack are separate parts. Like all other miners, his weapon is a small gun with some detailed sculpting.
B127 (Bumblebee), as a miner, also has his Transformation Cog removed. The only painted details are black highlights on the head, chest, and hips, while the feet and backpack are separate parts. His weapon is the miner’s standard small gun.
Wheeljack’s distinctive features are quite evident, with an adorably designed head. The chest and knees are decorated with red and green details, while the hips and lower legs feature large areas of painted details. The backpack is a separate part, and his weapon is also the miner’s standard small gun.
▲Hound and Ironhide are essentially the same mold, differing only in color schemes and head designs. The chest area where the Transformation Cog would be is a separate part, and the hips have painted details. Both come with the miner’s standard small gun as their weapon.
▲The transformation of Orion Pax into Optimus Prime brings several noticeable changes: first, his head design evolves into a masked face; second, his chest now houses the Transformation Cog and later gains the Matrix of Leadership; third, the details on the shoulders, smokestacks, abdomen, hips, and back are significantly altered; and fourth, his weapon upgrades from a small gun to a large one, with the addition of an axe, greatly enhancing his combat capabilities.
To sum up, the Blokees Transformers All-Star Series Volume 5 - Origins has done an excellent job in capturing the distinctive features of the nine characters I pulled, making it easy for Transformers fans to recognize them at a glance. The assembly process maintains the same level of challenge and tactile enjoyment as previous releases. It’s commendable that each character comes equipped with weapons, ensuring their poses don’t feel too monotonous. I look forward to seeing characters like Elita-1, Alpha Trion, Scorponok, and the Quintessons in future releases. That’s it for today’s review! If there are any shortcomings, please feel free to leave comments and share your thoughts.
