Blokko|Blokees Transformers Galaxy Defender Version Chapter 1 Model Kit Set of 12
I believe redefines minifigures once again: the Transformers Starry Edition Wave 1. Let me walk you through my unboxing experience.
▼PART 01: Packaging & Contents
The packaging box is slightly smaller than the All-Star Edition. The cover art features the familiar, cuter versions of our favorite Autobots and Decepticons.
▼Inside, you’ll find a dual-sided printed card and 12 individual blind boxes.
▼Each blind box is the size of a cigarette pack. The series now includes 16 designs (up from the previous series), with two iconic leaders—Optimus Prime and Megatron—each having a regular version, a Starshine Hidden version, and an Armored Hidden version. Collecting the full set is going to be challenging!
▼Additionally, each box guarantees one hidden figure and a gold coin! Though each box costs only 9.9 yuan, the configuration encourages buyers to purchase an entire box, making it a pricey venture.
▼The instruction manual is dual-sided and printed in color. Each character’s assembly parts differ slightly.
▼PART 02: Optimus Prime’s Vehicle Mode
Due to obvious reasons, Blokko released vehicle modes as standalone products. This move is both ingenious and surprising. Interestingly, the vehicle mode’s proportions resemble a Hot Wheels car.
▼PART 03: Thundercracker
The first minifigure I opened was Thundercracker. The final product is nothing short of extraordinary! In this traditional minifigure-like scale, Blokko managed to maintain high articulation and adorable proportions. Their design capabilities are truly impressive!
▼Despite the smaller size, the printing and color separation are still top-notch. For under 10 yuan and with official licensing, this is a game-changer that puts off-brand manufacturers in a tough spot.
▼PART 04: Brilliant Bumblebee
One notable change in the Starry Edition is that paint-sprayed designs, previously reserved for hidden versions, are now part of the regular lineup. Whether this is a good or bad decision remains to be seen as the series progresses.
▼PART 05: Scavenger’s Vehicle Mode
The plastic material makes it look more like a Hot Wheels car. Surprisingly, the excavator arm is movable!
▼PART 06: Thundercracker’s Vehicle Mode
This design seems to have the fewest parts among all the figures. Most details rely on paint applications.
▼PART 07: Prowl
Prowl makes an appearance with his classic police car design.
▼PART 08: Crystal Bumblebee Vehicle Mode
Interestingly, both Bumblebee designs in Wave 1 are not regular versions. Blokko likely has its reasons for this configuration.
▼PART 09: Optimus Prime
Finally, the iconic Optimus Prime appears in my eighth box. While it’s not the hidden version, I’m looking forward to pulling the hidden Megatron next. This Starry Edition Optimus Prime is flawless and, in my opinion, looks even better than the All-Star Edition.
▼PART 10: Scavenger
Scavenger is the sole representative of the Constructicons in Wave 1. At this rate, will it take six waves to complete the team?
▼PART 11: Shattered Glass Sideswipe
The choice of Shattered Glass Sideswipe is intriguing and somewhat puzzling.
▼PART 12: Crystal Ironhide
When I only had two boxes left, I realized I hadn’t found the commemorative gold coin. Luckily, I pulled it along with Ironhide. The “coin” is actually plastic with gold paint, and there are three designs in total. If you’re just looking to collect the coins, focus on Ironhide boxes.
▼PART 13: Starshine Hidden Megatron
My last box contained the hidden Starshine version of Megatron. Though it’s not the Armored Hidden, I’m very satisfied. This version of Megatron is undoubtedly one of the most striking representations of the Starry Edition.
▼PART 14: Additional Observations
Let’s compare the Starry Edition with traditional minifigures.
The Starry Edition figures are slightly taller but compatible with traditional minifigure accessories. However, their footpieces are not compatible with standard studded bricks.

▼Certain clip pieces can interact with traditional bricks, and online enthusiasts have even added a container to Optimus Prime’s vehicle mode.
▼In terms of articulation, the Starry Edition is on par with the All-Star Edition, offering exceptional poseability unmatched by figures of similar size.
▼While the vehicles might feel underwhelming when drawn from a blind box, they do provide unique interactive play opportunities when paired with the minifigures.
▼Blokko showcases how to maximize IP licensing potential, given you have an exceptionally talented development team.
▼The various scale combinations allow for some creative play opportunities, which I personally love!
▼Finally, here’s a stylish photo of my Megatron to wrap up this review.
