Today I’m bringing you Dr.Wu’s ultra–small-scale Scorponok. Dr.Wu’s ultra-small Metrotitan series can be considered a unique line of its own. Beyond chibi-style reinterpretations of the well-known Metrotitans, the series also adds extra play features. How does the toy perform? Let’s follow the review and find out.
▼The packaging follows Dr.Wu’s usual ultra-small-scale style. The center of the box features a 2D illustration of Scorponok. The back of the box mainly displays photos of the actual Scorponok figure, along with handling reminders that are essential for ultra-small-scale toys.

▼The box contents include the Scorponok figure, four sets of turrets, two leg armor pieces, a large gun, a spear, a shield, Fasttrack, and a frosted character card. For ease of display, I’ve installed all of Scorponok’s standard accessories.

▼As a chibi-style design, Scorponok’s oversized head is quite adorable—if you didn’t know better, you might think he’s some cheerful, sunny big boy. The entire face uses metallic paint, and the transparent faceplate can be adjusted in angle.

▼The figure is covered in many retro-style metallic paint details all over its body. Even areas that are easy to overlook, like the rib section, feature gold, silver, and black paint accents. The overall figure looks very solid, with large claws and square, blocky legs.

▼Scorponok has a noticeable backpack on the back, but this isn’t really a flaw. After all, the original design also had a backpack here, and the shape doesn’t negatively affect the overall appearance.

▼The head can rotate horizontally, and the neck can extend to allow the head to look upward. The arms can rotate vertically and lift to nearly 180 degrees. The upper arms can rotate, the elbows can bend close to 90 degrees, and the claws can bend inward toward the wrists, with each “finger” featuring a directional joint. The waist can rotate. The legs can kick forward and backward beyond 90 degrees, and side kicks reach about 90 degrees. The knees can bend beyond 90 degrees, and the feet can angle inward for ground contact. Aside from lacking a thigh swivel, Scorponok’s joints are basically on par with general Generations-style figures, and posing him normally is no problem.

▼As a Headmaster, Scorponok’s head can be removed and transformed into the Headmaster. The Headmaster is also done in a chibi style, with clear facial features that look quite cute. However, due to the transformation design, there’s a mysterious bulge in the crotch area.

▼This time, Dr.Wu’s Scorponok comes with all the accessories it should, including this spear. Strictly speaking, only Black Zarak and Mirror Scorponok have spears, while the original-color Scorponok does not. But when other Scorponoks have it and the original doesn’t, it always feels like something is missing. This time, Dr.Wu didn’t bother with such distinctions and included the spear with the original-color version as well, which is extremely satisfying for someone with obsessive tendencies like me.

▼When not in use, the spear can be mounted on Scorponok’s back. This feature is more of a bonus, providing an additional way to store the weapon.

▼The large gun is Scorponok’s standard weapon, and anyone who has played with the original Scorponok toy will be familiar with it. The gun is held directly in Scorponok’s hand, but because the handle doesn’t have a peg or similar structure, it relies purely on friction from the claws to stay in place, making it a bit loose when held.

▼The shield is also an accessory that came with the original Scorponok. That said, I have to complain a bit—Scorponok has such a huge body and such thick armor, does he really need a shield to protect himself?

▼Scorponok’s mechanical guard is called “Fasttrack.” Anyone who follows third-party toys is probably familiar with this character. Dr.Wu’s small Fasttrack is truly tiny and finely detailed, and the twin cannons on the armored vehicle can even tilt upward.

▼Fasttrack transforms in a single step, using a transformation structure similar to the Headmaster. This little Fasttrack figure is under two centimeters tall—honestly the smallest Transformer I’ve played with from 2025 to now.

▼Scorponok’s transformation process isn’t difficult, but the included instructions omit some transformation details, requiring you to infer specific transformation points based on before-and-after images. For experienced players like us, this isn’t much of an issue—after transforming it once or twice, you can basically remember the general steps.
Scorponok’s scorpion mode also features a degree of chibi stylization, with a shorter, chunkier body. With such a large torso paired with such small rear legs, I can’t help but wonder whether those tiny limbs can really support all that weight. The four turrets are mounted on the claws and lower body, and the articulation of the front limbs is basically the same as in robot mode.

▼The Headmaster can be mounted inside Scorponok’s chest armor. That facial expression on the Headmaster, paired with the stark contrast of the giant scorpion, gives off a vibe like road rage—almost as if he wants to ram the car in front of him.

▼Although the base mode has also been given chibi-style treatment, the overall shape is actually quite solid. Scorponok’s base mode features—such as the iconic central runway, the side runways, the two upright claws, and the mouthpiece-shaped shield mounting point—all feel spot on. As everyone knows, Metrotitan base modes are usually the easiest to half-heartedly execute, but this one is genuinely well done and looks very harmonious when displayed together with the Headmaster.

▼In addition to Scorponok’s standard three modes, Dr.Wu’s Metrotitan series can also transform into a box mode. In this box mode, all weapons and the guard can be stored inside. The box measures roughly 5 × 5 × 5 and is compatible in size with boxes from a certain brand.
Moreover, this box mode is very suitable for storage. On one hand, the box is small and neatly shaped, saving space, which is especially friendly for collectors with lots of toys. On the other hand, since this mode can store all the accessories, it greatly reduces the risk of losing parts.

▼I think this Scorponok is a very typical example of a genuinely fun toy. All of its modes have a high level of completion. While retaining the original modes, it adds the box mode, and the transformation process isn’t difficult, making it stress-free to handle. On top of that, this Scorponok includes all accessories in one go, with a small but finely crafted figure and a multi-mode design that really pushes playability to the maximum. Because it comes with so many accessories, I feel it’s better suited for at-home play. Whether as a casual desk toy or as a display piece focused on aesthetics, I highly recommend this Scorponok.
