For reference：
Today I’m bringing you Dr.Wu’s ultra-small-scale Flywheels. Not long ago, Dr.Wu released the first ultra-small-scale two-in-one warrior, Battletrap. Shortly afterward, the second two-in-one warrior, Flywheels, was released. I thought the previous Battletrap was very well-designed, and most people gave it high praise. How does Flywheels perform? Let’s find out in this review.
▼This Flywheels comes in two versions: one in the original color scheme and one in a mirrored color scheme. The toy’s packaging box has a robot-mode illustration of Flywheels in the center, with the Dr.Wu logo in the lower right corner. The back of the box mainly shows photos of the toy in both modes, along with play reminders for ultra-small-scale products.

▼The box contents include a small tank, a small plane, two guns, a matte character card, and an instruction manual. For those who often read my reviews, you know I usually start with robot mode, but today this toy is special, so we’ll start with the vehicle modes.

▼Flywheels’ first vehicle mode is this small fighter jet. The jet’s proportions are slightly chibi, round and cute. The cockpit uses a transparent piece, and the landing gear underneath can be deployed or folded according to your preference. The G1-colored version is highly faithful to the design, with a dark red fuselage and blue accents on the tail. The mirrored version changes the fuselage to blue and adds multiple silver metallic paint accents.

▼Like the previous Battletrap, Flywheels’ cockpit door can open. Opening the door reveals the pilot seat and dashboard. If you have a figure of suitable size, you can try placing it in the seat.

▼One of the small guns can be mounted under the cockpit. With this single-seat cockpit and the gun at the front, it reminds me of some vehicle air-combat scenes in RPG games.

▼Flywheels’ second vehicle mode is this small tank. The turret is relatively large, while the front of the tank is slightly shorter than the design. The G1-colored version is also faithful to the original design: the main gun is dark red, and the rest of the body is dark brown. The mirrored version uses a classic red-and-blue combination, with lots of silver metallic paint near the main gun and turret. Due to the different color schemes, the two versions give completely different impressions: G1 color feels retro and classic, while the mirrored color feels more refined.

▼The other small gun needs to be installed on one side of the tank’s front as a secondary weapon, which is also faithful to the original design.

▼The transformation process is not difficult. Transforming the plane is almost a single step, and the tank takes slightly more steps, but once you do it once, you can basically remember the entire transformation. As I mentioned before, I think this series aims to maximize the completeness of both modes while minimizing the complexity of transformation, reducing the play pressure.

▼The head sculpt is very accurate: Flywheels has a neutral expression, red visor, and a silver-painted face. The sculpt has no obvious paint flaws. The mirrored version has a yellow visor, with the rest in red. This mirrored head would not feel out of place among a collection of G1 Autobots.

▼The combined robot mode has well-proportioned limbs. The chest armor retains the plane’s nose. Limbs are mainly transformed from the tank, with red and blue accents on the thighs. The mirrored version adds more silver metallic paint on the chest armor and corresponding silver accents on the hips and thighs.

▼Flywheels’ backpack is large, holding almost the entire plane. This is not a design flaw, as the animation model is the same. If you find the backpack too large, the wings have a hinge that allows them to fold.

▼The head can rotate and tilt upward significantly. Arms can rotate vertically; the small wings on the chest can fold to allow more arm movement. Arms can lift about 60 degrees; elbows bend close to 90 degrees; forearms can rotate. Legs can kick forward slightly over 90 degrees, backward close to 90 degrees, and sideways about 45 degrees. Thighs can rotate; knees bend close to 90 degrees; feet can plant forward and inward. Flywheels’ articulation is basically the same as other products in the series. The missile detail on the outer side of each arm allows attack poses even without guns.

▼Flywheels’ weapons are two guns, one large and one small. The original color large gun is red, the small gun black. In the mirrored version, both guns are silver metallic.

▼This Dr.Wu ultra-small-scale Flywheels continues the performance of the previous Battletrap. Both vehicle and robot modes are highly complete, and the robot mode is comparable to many larger-scale toys. Transformation is simple, play is stress-free, and all appropriate accessories are included. I think this two-in-one series has more playability than regular ultra-small-scale toys. If you need a toy that’s easy to handle, or if you need a Flywheels figure, I highly recommend this one.
