Today, we're taking a look at the latest release from Dr.Wu, an ultra-small-scale Transformers figure—Frenzy. This character left a very deep impression in the movie. Although he is small in size, the shadow he cast was no smaller than that of those much larger characters. However, over the years, the number of movie Frenzy figures that have been released can be counted on one hand, and there have been even fewer transformable versions. Finally, after nearly twenty years, someone has once again made a transformable movie Frenzy, so I couldn't wait to share it with everyone. How does the figure perform? Let's find out in today's review.
▼Since the one I have is still an early review sample, it does not yet come with the official packaging, character card, or instruction manual. These will be included in the production version. The contents include the Frenzy figure, and if you preordered it, you will also receive two darts as a bonus.

▼Frenzy's head sculpt is highly recognizable. Although the head designs of the Decepticons in the movie share a similar style, you would never mistake one for another. Two "antennae" extend from the top of his head, with four eyeballs on each antenna. The mouth features multiple layers of alien-like mouthparts, giving him quite an extraterrestrial insectoid appearance.
The parts of the vehicle shell required for transformation are scattered throughout Frenzy's body. Although Frenzy transforms into a vehicle right from his first appearance, his fragmented design is no less elaborate than the characters from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers: The Last Knight. The figure's designers chose to break up the vehicle shell, which also helps avoid the need for an oversized backpack. The figure recreates Frenzy's four-arm design, while the legs feature the reverse-jointed structure commonly seen on the movie Decepticons.

▼Frenzy has a backpack, but you can adjust its configuration to make it look less cumbersome. Aside from that, there is no excessive bulk on the back of the figure.

▼The head can rotate slightly from side to side and tilt up and down. Pulling out the neck can further extend the range of the head's orientation. The arms can rotate vertically and raise to approximately 90 degrees. The upper arms can swivel, while the elbows can swivel and bend beyond 90 degrees. Each upper arm connects to two forearms, and the base of the upper forearm also has a directional joint. One finger on each claw can bend inward. On the claws of the lower forearms, one finger can rotate around the thumb area, and both claws can hold weapons.
The waist can rotate horizontally. The legs can kick forward and backward beyond 90 degrees and move outward to nearly 90 degrees. The entire leg uses a reverse-jointed structure, with both knees using directional joints. The feet can tilt inward for ground contact, while the toes and heels can also be adjusted to achieve front-to-back ground contact. Frenzy's articulation is roughly comparable to that of a standard Deluxe Class figure, and he is quite fun to pose.

▼Frenzy comes with a disc stored in his chest. In the movie, the disc could be launched like a dart and used to inflict serious damage on humans. The figure's disc can either be stored in the chest or held in his hand.

▼If you preordered the figure, you will also receive two darts as a bonus. These darts are the same size as the disc and can perfectly replace the disc in the chest. They can also be held by Frenzy by adjusting the finger joints.

▼The transformation process is not difficult. The structure may look slightly complicated, but after transforming it just once, you can remember almost all of the steps. Frenzy's vehicle mode recreates the CD/cassette radio from the movie. If you were born ten years later, you might never have even seen one of these things. The radio mode is quite well executed, with corresponding paint applications on areas such as the speakers, buttons, and display. The screen even shows 12:00.

▼The radio's antenna can be raised and adjusted to different angles, or lowered and secured against the corresponding clip. The rear also features detailed ventilation openings. Aside from some exposed robot-mode parts and transformation joints, there isn't much to criticize about this disguise mode.

▼Some time has passed since this Frenzy was first revealed in preview images, and quite a few people have been paying close attention to it. After all, it has been nearly twenty years, and we finally have another transformable movie Frenzy. The figure continues the design philosophy of Dr.Wu's ultra-small movie series, using a relatively uncomplicated transformation process to preserve as many character-defining details as possible in both modes. The robot mode faithfully recreates Frenzy's four-arm design from the movie, making him instantly recognizable, while the vehicle mode also captures most of the details of the radio.If you want to complete your collection of the character, or simply want to play with an ultra-small-scale figure, this Frenzy is definitely worth picking up.
