Iron Factory EX-72R Chaos Blaze Rahu

Today I’m bringing you Iron Factory’s new release, Chaos Blaze Rahu. This Rahu is a remold of the previously released The Fallen. I remember the official images of this figure were released two or three years ago, and it has finally shipped recently. Let’s see how the toy performs.
▼The toy’s packaging box follows Iron Factory’s usual style. Since the toy is relatively large, the box is slightly wider. The top-left corner has a transparent window through which the toy can be seen. To the right of the window is a real figure photo of Rahu in robot mode. The back of the box mainly shows photos of the toy in its three modes and weapon play, with no additional information.





▼The box contents include the Rahu figure, a large hammer, a stand, an instruction manual, and four pairs of replacement hands. The name “Rahu” comes from an evil demon in ancient Indian mythology. I haven’t found a direct prototype for this in the Transformers universe; it is probably an original design by the manufacturer. Although called a remold, at least half of the parts are newly designed, so the remolding is significant.



▼Rahu’s head sculpt is entirely new and has no relation to the original The Fallen. The head sculpt is a translucent piece with a pair of huge horns, several spikes on top, and a wide-open mouth. The translucent material has a beautiful light-transmitting effect; under light, the horns, eyes, and mouth look like they are burning. This horned, lava-emitting demon look also appears in Western mythology and some films.



▼The previous The Fallen already had many translucent parts; Rahu expands on this feature. In addition to the flame effect pieces covering the outer armor, the chest and abdomen inner armor, elbows, thighs, feet, and other areas all use newly designed effect parts. Even the hands and replacement hands are new parts. Gray armor near red translucent parts has a gradient red paint effect, like it has been scorched by fire. These new parts, in addition to being translucent, have a more biomimetic style, making the character look less like a robot and more like a mythological figure with sci-fi armor elements.



▼Iron Factory products are known for exceptionally well-proportioned robot modes, and the back of this toy is no exception. Compared to the front with many translucent parts, the back has higher armor coverage, emphasizing the robotic feel.



▼The head can rotate and tilt up. Arms can rotate vertically. Because the shoulder armor is extremely large, it interferes with the arm’s lateral lift, allowing about 30 degrees. Upper arms can rotate; elbows bend well past 90 degrees. Wrists can rotate. The waist can rotate; by avoiding the skirt armor, legs can kick forward and backward about 90 degrees, with backward kick near 90 degrees. Thighs can rotate; knees bend past 90 degrees. Feet can plant 360 degrees; the front feet can bend downward. Rahu’s articulation covers all joints seen in classic Transformers toys. Aside from the limited lateral arm lift, there are almost no weaknesses. Because the sculpt is so strong, with replacement hands, even without weapons the figure can strike great poses.



▼Rahu’s weapon differs from The Fallen; it is a large hammer. Compared to The Fallen’s great sword turned into a hammer, Rahu’s hammer has new parts for the hammerhead spike and the end of the handle. I think the hammer is slightly smaller, though perhaps in mythology demons use hammers of this size.



▼The transformation process is basically the same as The Fallen and is relatively complex for Iron Factory products. Rahu’s first vehicle mode is this fully flaming tank, with flame effect pieces covering the tank armor. Although the vehicle has a slight “single-step” transformation vibe, the flame effects greatly improve the appearance.





▼With minor additional transformation and attaching the stand, you get the second vehicle mode, a self-propelled artillery piece. By rounding, Rahu is essentially a Triple Changer.





▼This Rahu focuses on achieving an extreme robot-mode sculpt, which is Iron Factory’s comfort zone. Although a remold of The Fallen, the extensive use of new translucent parts makes the toy’s look completely different. Compared to The Fallen, Rahu has a more obvious biomimetic mythological style, rare among transforming toys. The toy also offers Triple Changer play, further enhancing playability. If you didn’t get the previous The Fallen, Rahu is a safe buy—because it really is impressive.
