Today I’m bringing you a new release from Iron Factory: the samurai-styled Cheetor. It has been nearly half a year since Iron Factory last released a brand-new mold, so after such a long period of refinement, how does this figure perform? Let’s follow the review and find out.
▼The packaging continues the Iron Factory samurai series’ signature gift-box-style design. Through the clear window, you can see the Cheetor figure inside. The back of the box mainly showcases photos of Cheetor in both modes, along with demonstrations of the weapon accessories.

▼The contents include the Cheetor figure, a ninja sword, a wakizashi, a kusarigama, two kunai, a shuriken, three pairs of interchangeable hands, a replacement head sculpt, and the instruction manual. Cheetor’s overall concept clearly draws inspiration from Japanese ninjas, which is obvious from the weapon loadout alone.

▼Cheetor’s default head sculpt is based on the BW design, with a demon-mask-style men-yoroi added to the face. The crest is painted with metallic paint, and the facial paint shows no obvious paint rub or overflow, giving it a fairly refined look.

▼The head sculpt can be swapped via simple plug-in replacement. The alternate head is not just the default sculpt with the men-yoroi removed, but a completely new design. This head features a beast-mouth look, a smaller crest, a younger facial appearance, and an overall more understated style.

▼I feel that Iron Factory’s overall design for this Cheetor draws some inspiration from the mainline Transformers 7 Cheetor. The cheetah head on the chest is certainly familiar, and the two small wing-like pieces behind the shoulders give me a strong sense of visual déjà vu from the Transformers 7 mainline Cheetor. The skirt armor and thigh armor incorporate a clear Japanese samurai aesthetic, which will be very familiar to anyone who frequently collects Iron Factory products.

▼The most essential part of this figure, in my opinion, is the transparent flowing ribbon on the back. I’d say that without this ribbon, the overall visual appeal of the figure would drop by at least 30%. Its presence highlights Cheetor’s agile, speed-type character and adds a strong sense of motion, while also fitting the general public’s stereotypical image of a ninja.

▼The head can rotate horizontally, and the shoulders feature butterfly joints that allow the arms to move forward. The arms can rotate vertically, though backward movement is limited by the small wings. The upper arms can rotate, the elbows can bend to nearly 180 degrees, and the wrists can rotate. The waist can rotate. The legs can kick forward to under 90 degrees, and side and back kicks reach about 90 degrees. The thighs can rotate, the knees can bend well beyond 90 degrees, and the ankles can rotate and achieve full 360-degree ground contact. Cheetor’s articulation is basically in line with Iron Factory’s usual small-scale standards, and posing him normally is definitely not a problem.

▼This time, Cheetor comes with a very rich selection of weapons, with the main weapon being this ninja sword. When I played Sekiro before, I read up on related ninja settings. This type of ninja sword isn’t only used to attack enemies, but also for tasks like digging and climbing walls, so the blade isn’t very long and the edge isn’t overly sharp. If the blade were too long, it would be easy to break when digging, and if it were too sharp, it would be prone to chipping. Because of these limitations, the most effective attack method for this kind of ninja sword is primarily thrusting.

▼Kunai are considered standard ninja weapons, and the manufacturer included two of them. In Sekiro, these are weapons used by Lady Butterfly, capable of both close-range combat and long-range throwing.

▼Using a connector piece, both the ninja sword and the kunai can be stored on Cheetor’s lower back. This is a very reasonable feature, since a ninja with so many weapons naturally needs a place to conceal and store them.

▼At a glance, you can tell that the design of the kusarigama is actually Cheetor’s beast-mode tail. Kusarigama appear in various ninja-related works and can be used both at close and long range; it looks like climbing a wall with it wouldn’t be a problem either.

▼In addition to the ninja sword, the manufacturer also included a short blade, or wakizashi. It can be paired with the ninja sword for a dual-wield setup, or, after removing the flowing ribbon, stored on the back using a dedicated accessory.

▼The shuriken has been given an added grip on top of its standard design, making it look more natural when held by Cheetor.

▼Cheetor’s transformation process is not difficult. The transformation design is largely consistent with the Cheetor figures we’re used to, and I believe most people could get it mostly right even without the instructions. Compared to the highly refined robot mode, the beast mode has a slightly lower level of completion. The figure adds some armor on top of the BW base, but it still looks completely different from the live-action movie style, which is relatively rare among past Cheetor toys. Whether this is acceptable will depend on individual taste.

▼Overall, this Cheetor continues the consistent style of Iron Factory’s samurai series: an extremely well-executed robot mode, a handsome design, and rich accessories that result in very high play value. The transformation isn’t difficult and is well suited for casual handling. If you can accept this style, I would definitely recommend this Cheetor.
