[Pre-Order] FansHobby MB-28 Armada Starscream
Grahf: I seen one pic the other day and I was excited but thought something was off about the front end as that's all the pic was. Then I seen these pictures and I realize what that was.

Now I'm not nearly as excited.

They buried Armada Starscream under Energon Starscream...or worse, Movie Starscream

This isn't Armada Starscream anymore. Even with the smaller wings, the cannons on top and the little wings deployed up front, this isn't Armada Starscream. They changed too much to get the F-22 Raptor in there. Now it just looks like Energon Starscream.  Do one or the other, not some weird cobbled together version of both.

None of their other Armada or Energon figures so far have been a mix of the two designs. So why for this one? If you're making Armada Starscream, just make Armada Starscream. It's not like there aren't options for reuses of the mold and they needed to do something to make the mold worth casting. Not that it matters to this company who decided that G1 SG Optimus Colors were good on ARMADA OP even though there's four other decos they could've done instead that actually exist.

This isn't even tooling that Jhiaxus would need either. That I could've seen happening. Having the wings be able to switch between the Starscream look and the Jhiaxus look. Having guns under the wings instead of the swords. Ramjet and Skywarp definitely wouldn't need this tooling either let alone Thundercracker who's an exact copy of Starscream.

If they wanted a more complete looking jet mode for Armada Starscream then a mix between Armada and Animated Starscreams would work better. Animated Starscream is seemingly mostly based on Armada Starscream to begin with. So blending those two designs would work better than whatever they're trying to accomplish here.

If you had to mix Energon Starscream into something then it should've been G2 Starscream. No, not THAT G2 Starscream. The new mold that had a limited release alongside G2 Megatron (no not THAT G2 Megatron) and was later redecoed and fully released as G2 Smokescreen and Dreadwing. The two jets that combined in jet mode and that the larger ATB could also turn into a tank.

As this is, I just don't see enough of Armada Starscream in the design to get excited about it anymore. Which is a shame as I REALLY wanted a big so called MP version of Armada Starscream to go with the so called legends class version, the deluxe and the voyager as well as the original. One that could stand next to Maketoys Galaxy Meteor Cybertron Starscream.

Guess I'll still be waiting.

Seraph10: I agree with all your statements, and I am happy that I am not the only one who has the idea of keeping the Unicron trilogy faithful. I would like to say however, that despite having owned 3 Galaxy Meteors by Maketoys, it did not satisfy my long awaited need to see this figure in MP scale. The quality was one of the worse I have seen in years (plastic literally trash), and it could have most definitely been optimized with a few other accessories. (crown, exchangeable null ray) Still, seeing FH's Overload concerns me on the quality of other characters that are not Optimus and Megatron. I hope FH decides to actually listen to the fan base, and stop wanting to "innovate" on the designs, when in fact they only need upgrading to achieve a more accurate look, and functionality for these modern times. So, I really hope FH renders their own Cybertron Starscream, as I know Hasbro mainline is putting out both a legacy Vector Prime and Starscream this year.

Grahf: I never had any problems with Galaxy meteor but yeah, the plastic wasn't quite as robust as it could've been. I am anticipating that Vector Prime and Starscream too. And then hopefully a REAL Shattered Glass Starscream. One that doesn't yellow.
CollectionSpace CS-02 Transformable Bishoujo Little Red Mecha Girl
Grahf: Why are people calling this Cliffjumper? It's clearly red Bumblebee. They are two separate things lol.

Bumblebee came in yellow and red. It's just that the cartoon used the yellow one.

Cliffjumper came in red and yellow but they used the red one in the cartoon.

Then there's Hubcap that is also yellow and is the same overall car that Cliffjumper is. However he is not yellow Cliffjumper though as his tooling has a different head as well as it doesn't have the spoiler. He also came on cards that said Hubcap.

Finally there's Bumper/Bumblejumper. He's also yellow but he has a different mold entirely. He was supposedly sold on BOTH Bumblebee and Cliffjumper cards. So fans came up with the name of Bumblejumper as a portmanteau of their names which was then shortened and G1ified into Bumper.

Regardless though, you have a female Bumblebee mold yet you don't actually redeco it into the actual female character that is a redeco of Bumblebee?

Poor Glyph never gets any love. She has two toys total that were intended to be her from the start (Botcon and Mass Toys) and another two (Bump of Chicken Bumble from Takara and Valentines day Bumblebee from Art Feather) mostly in her color that are just Bumblebee in blue and one of those two might not have actually been made (the Art Feather figure).

Her Botcon figure uses the keychain version of G1 Bumblebee.

Her Maas Toys figure is the War Within mold they made for Bumblebee.

The Bump of Chicken figure uses the PotP mold.

The Art Feather figure was an early third party VW Beetle reshell of Classics Bumblebee.

So yeah, it would be great if the female Bumblebee figure is done as the actual female Bumblebee option.

It would also be great if Hasbro or Takara gave Red Bumblebee and yellow Cliffjumper names after all this time to try and uncomplicate the situation. Shame Fun Pub isn't allowed to do it anymore. Knowing Hasbro though, the name would just be as lame as blue Trailbreaker (DK-3 Breaker) and black Ironhide (DK-2 Guard). At least Takara gave yellow Hoist a name for the MP (Rigorous). Maybe E-Hobby can give them names if they made new figures for them.
Grahf: Totally not confusing right? lol.
Perfect Effect PC-17 Core Magnus
Grahf: Now we need one for SS86 Ultra Magnus.

Again, shame they're not around anymore.

This company might not have been the best and had shit customer services (as far as I'm concerned) but the fact that they even tried things like this was great. DNA or anyone else won't even dare to try...not that I'd trust them to after the shit DNA has been putting out recently but still, someone needs to try and replace figures outright again. They can start with SS86 Magnus' cab and Haslab Saber. I have the thigh extender on Saber and there was MORE than enough room in the design to make Saber taller and still connect normally in the compartment as is let alone after tweaking the armor a bit too. That's definitely something Hasbro dropped the ball on with that Star Saber set. Saber should've been much bigger. Some would argue the entire set should've been bigger but I like the size they are otherwise. It's just Saber is way too small as that's the core bot of the set and he should've been about the same size as Optimus and Ginrai.
[Pre-Order] Future Toys-X SF-02 Transmetal Blackarachnia

want

this.
[Pre-Order] Future Toys-X SF-01 Metal Lycosa Tarantulas
Grahf: So I've had Transart Tarantulas for a month or two now. It's good. I still want this too for some reason. Maybe due to how the plastic feels with recent Transart figures. They're weird feeling. A tad off putting. Almost cheap feeling. So maybe this one would feel more robust. Hopefully.

It would be a shame for this company to get this far only to not release this. I just hope they're taking the extra time to give this wrist swivels or something. Those 100% accurate to the original toy hands are horrible. They have foot articulation as well as all those joints in the spider legs but nothing for the wrists. It's such an odd thing to keep so accurate.
Robot Toys RT-02 Tyrant Beast Wars: Transformer Megatron
Grahf: Looks pretty good.

All depends on price.
Dr.Wu DW-E01M Destroy Emperor Galvatron & DW-E29 Destroy Planet Grand Galvatron Comic Version Set of 2
Grahf: So regardless of what Galvatron you get, you're getting a Unicorn? Yes Unicorn, look it up.

Not really for me then.

Might've been in on a toy colors and animation colors 2 pack but that's about it.

I mean I get the joke and all and it's cool that it's being made, I just don't want it.
Iron Factory IF-EX20G Wing of Tyrant MP-11A Acidstorm
Grahf: You know what's kinda bugging me right now?

The lack of upgrades for the Studio Series 86 as well as the Legacy Junkions.

There's all of two alternate chest molds available for the SS86 mold. They're both for Wreck Gar only and one of which is out of print.

There's only one alternate option for wheels for the SS86 mold and they're expensive as fuck for no reason. I just want some regular wheel alternative, not some comically oversized ATV like wheels for $40+ a fucking set.

Only one new head that was made for the SS86 mold. That head is also out of print. Or rather, half of it is. You can still get half of it in another color but not the whole set. What the fuck was that idiot at Nonnef thinking by making the head in another color but not giving you the whole fucking head in the kit while also keeping this incomplete kit still available for purchase.

The Legacy boys get nothing other than reproductions of Scraphook's weapons. That's it. Not a single piece to help them combine or anything else. Who am I kidding about that though, nobody ever made anything for the Weaponizers, Modulators or Fossilizers before them to help with combined modes either.

Where's the imagination in this hobby lately? Everything is just redecos and reissues and straight knockoffs. Anytime something is done differently, it sells well but is seemingly never followed up on.

However I do like Acid Storm's colors despite him being just another uninspired redeco.

Didn't think I'd spin that around to the figure did you?
[Pre-Order] Big Firebird EX-02 Windblade
Grahf: It seems this may not be dead after all. There's pictures of resin prototypes of her out there. Not only that but there's some for a Blackarachnia as well. Someone one one of my joke comments for one of the other Big Firebird figures tried telling me that this figure was dead but it seems they were wrong.

Or at least, this might be a Toyworld and Zeta Toys type situation. Where Zeta spun off of Toyworld when the designers left the original company. Both Companies have the rights to the designs that the Zeta crew worked on when part of Toyworld but any new design made after the split is only able to be made by the company that made it. Or something along those lines.

Maybe this is something similar in which the original designers are in another company and they were able to take their designs with them to work on and eventually release. The person who left the comment said that the designers quit and started up or now work for Orange Cat Industry. But looking at their current releases, I'm going to say that whoever is designing those Orange Cat Industry figures IS NOT the same team that designed Nicee, this Windblade or that magical girl robot combiner.

Maybe it's CDL that's the other company. I mean, that would explain why those supposed knockoff figures don't feel any different than the Big Firebird Nicee figures. They're made by the original designers. It could also explain why the original design was modified to allow more parts to detach. I wouldn't put it past a good KO design crew to modify a figure but that seems to me like it was done by the people who originally designed it. It was a little more that I would've expected a KO company to do as it's not something anyone really asked for on the original design and they would've been just fine with the new heads.

Regardless, I'm very much looking forward to this finally seeing the light of day. And that Blackarachnia looks really good.
DNA Design DK-52 Upgrade Kits for SS-98 Cheetor & SS-103 Rhinox
Eating: Man, we really need that hologram globe...such a crucial piece.
Grahf: They knew we needed to SO much that they gave us two!
