Today, I’m bringing you the first product from Tiga Toys, Tianshu, a transforming 075 Amphibious Assault Ship. How does the toy perform? Let’s find out in this review.
▼The packaging box is very large, with illustrations of Tianshu in both modes displayed in the center. These illustrations weren’t AI-generated; the manufacturer commissioned an artist to draw them. The back of the box mainly showcases actual photos of the toy in both modes, along with its accessories and different play options.

▼The contents include two sprues, featuring the Tianshu figure, a pair of double axes with extended handles, arm blades, two hovercraft landing craft, two tanks, four helicopters, two large missile effect pieces in different color schemes, two small missile effect pieces, two artillery fire effect pieces, several small turret parts, several weapon connectors, and an instruction manual. When you see an instruction manual produced at this level of expense, you know the toy’s engineering certainly isn’t going to be simple.

▼Tianshu’s robot mode is designed based on the 075 Amphibious Assault Ship. Compared with a typical warrior, the head sculpt has more of a commander-like appearance, which also suits the role of an aircraft carrier in battle. Tianshu has two pairs of eyes and horns on his head. Beside the horns are paint details resembling portholes, presumably intended to represent the ship’s island superstructure.

▼Compared with the Transformers Live-Action Film Series, Tianshu’s overall style actually feels more like Pacific Rim or the mechanical designs from the Transformers fourth and fifth movies. His overall appearance is clean and streamlined, but if you look a little closer, you’ll discover that his entire body is covered in details, including metallic paint and tampographed markings. Take the chest armor, for example: you can easily spot a design combining the 075 and a Green Dragon Crescent Blade, along with Chinese markings meaning “Mind the Gap,” “Air Intake Hazard,” “Hydraulic Joint in Motion,” and more.

▼There are hydraulic rods under the armpits that can connect to the arms, but the connecting joints are rather loose, so I decided not to attach them. The forearms also feature spring-like structures, with the words “For Maintenance Only” printed beside them. A large amount of the ship’s hull is stored in the legs, but rather than exposing too much of it, the design creates a very cool layered armor effect. This design style feels familiar to me, somewhat resembling the work of a certain manufacturer known for its Cybertron Compression Technology.

▼Tianshu’s back is equally clean and streamlined, with no obvious excess parts, yet it still features plenty of paint applications and other details. The back also has the lobster-back design that Transformers fans love, and combined with the two circular structures beside the spine, it gives him a bit of an Optimus Prime vibe.

▼The toy’s head can rotate horizontally, and by loosening the joint, it can also tilt up and down. The arms can rotate vertically and, without disconnecting the joints, can be raised horizontally to just under 90 degrees. If you disconnect the joints, the arms can be raised much higher, but the underlying structure becomes exposed. The upper arms can rotate horizontally, while the elbows can bend well beyond 90 degrees and even activate a little bit of linked joint movement. The hands can rotate horizontally, and by loosening the joints, the wrists can also bend inward and outward. The hands are fully articulated: the thumb has one ball joint and two hinge joints, while the other four fingers can spread apart and each have three hinge joints. The hand articulation is relatively close to that of a real human hand.
The legs can kick forward to nearly 90 degrees and kick sideways and backward to over 45 degrees. The thighs can rotate horizontally, while the knees can bend well beyond 90 degrees and even extend the linked hydraulic joints. The ankles can rotate 360 degrees to maintain ground contact, and if you disconnect the hydraulic rods, an even greater range of movement becomes possible. Tianshu’s articulation is quite good. For an articulated figure of this size, almost everything you would expect is present, apart from waist rotation, so striking poses should be no problem.

▼Tianshu comes with a very generous selection of weapons and accessories. His main melee weapons are this pair of double axes. The axe blades are primarily painted gray and silver, while the handles feature hollow sections and various paint details. However, these short axes look a little out of place on such a large figure.

▼You can also attach the extended handles, turning the short axes into long-handled two-handed axes. This length feels much more appropriate. You can also attach the dedicated effect pieces to the axes. These effects imitate the look of the axe blades cleaving through ocean waves. They look undeniably cool, although one of the effect pieces I received was a little loose when installed. Perhaps I just got unlucky.

▼The two axes can also be combined at the ends using a connector, creating a weapon resembling a pair of interlocking whirlwind blades. Whether this design makes sense is another matter, but in terms of appearance, it certainly looks great.

▼The double axes can be transformed and then connected magnetically to form this double-barreled cannon. This adds another option for Tianshu’s handheld firepower in robot mode, although I think the axes look better.

▼When the axes aren’t in use, they can be attached to his back using the connectors. If they’re combined into the whirlwind blade configuration, both axes can be stored together as well.

▼This small arm blade gives me a bit of a Transformers: The Last Knight Optimus Prime vibe. Its surface is covered in silver details, and it can be mounted on the back of the hand. I think the blade is a little too small; something closer in size to Aquila Favonia or Gipsy Danger’s arm blades would be more suitable.

▼Besides being designed to resemble the turrets on the aircraft carrier in ship mode, Tianshu’s shoulders also have different designs if you look closely. The left shoulder features a vertical launch system, where you can attach the large effect piece to simulate a missile launching into the sky.

▼The right shoulder, on the other hand, is a helipad, where the helicopters can be secured magnetically. Add the effect pieces to the turrets, and the whole setup really starts to feel battle-ready.

▼Tianshu’s transformation design is extremely complex. Among all the transforming toys currently available on the market, and all the transforming toys I’ve personally handled so far, this one ranks among the most difficult to transform. The overall design logic is relatively clear, but there are simply a huge number of steps. It took me around 40 minutes to transform it from robot mode into ship mode for the first time, so you can use that as a reference. Fortunately, the toy’s locking mechanisms are very well designed. As long as you carefully engage each lock in sequence during transformation, it’s unlikely that you’ll end up with parts that haven’t been properly aligned.

▼Tianshu’s vehicle mode is the 075 Amphibious Assault Ship, also known as the Type 075 amphibious assault ship of China. The ship has an extremely high level of completeness, with the entire hull covered by exterior panels and even the underside fully enclosed. The markings for the aircraft runway and helipads on the deck are clearly visible, and there is also a crane arm beside the island superstructure.
The turbines at the stern feature gold metallic paint. If you want, you can also equip the ship with turrets such as machine guns and rocket launchers. The entire ship is approximately 40 cm long, giving it a substantial presence when held in your hands.

▼The double axes from robot mode can transform into a support stand, giving the toy a bit of a model aircraft display feel. Add the helicopters, tanks, hovercraft landing craft, and all the missile and weapon effect pieces, and you get Tianshu’s fully equipped aircraft carrier configuration. Actually, could the manufacturer have included a few fighter jets as well? Anyone interested in military equipment can share their thoughts.

▼Tianshu gives me the feeling of having collected and played with Transformers for years, only to be presented with a final, ultimate test. You need extensive experience handling transforming figures to fully appreciate what this toy has to offer. Both modes have an exceptionally high level of completeness, and the accessories are very generous. I don’t think the design maturity of this toy feels like the work of a new manufacturer. The locking mechanisms clearly demonstrate a great deal of experience. After handling it, I found its style somewhat reminiscent of UT. If you want to challenge yourself with a complex transformation, see the upper limits of what transforming toys can currently achieve, or are particularly interested in the 075 Amphibious Assault Ship, then this toy is well worth trying.
