Transformers Movie Toys TMT-02 Bumblebee
Hey everyone, it's Liu Ge! Today, we're diving into the TMT Bumblebee, a figure I've been eagerly awaiting. To be honest, after so many delays, I had my doubts. But once I got it in hand, all I can say is: this thing is phenomenal. They absolutely nailed it! I'm lucky enough to be the first to review this sample, so I hope you'll show your support with a like and a follow!

The Bottom Line
Pros: The robot mode is incredibly screen-accurate with natural proportions and minimal backpack kibble. The head sculpt and paint application are exceptional. It's packed with ratchet joints throughout, offering a wide range of motion and a solid, satisfying feel. The accessories are fantastic, with impressive arm blades, a hammer, and an arm cannon. The vehicle mode is also well-executed with great attention to detail.
Cons: In vehicle mode, some robot parts are visible on the undercarriage, but this is a common trade-off for shell-former designs and is perfectly acceptable. On this pre-production sample, some tabs are still being refined, but these will be optimized for the final retail version.
Recommendation: If you're a fan of the movie-version Bumblebee and want a transformable figure with an authentic design, I can tell you right now: this TMT Bumblebee is an instant buy. At this price for this level of premium quality, you'll regret it if you hesitate.

Vehicle Mode
First, let's check out this vehicle mode. How stunningly accurate is this?

This yellow Beetle looks like it drove right off the screen. The body lines are smooth, and the details on the headlights and hubcaps are exceptionally well-handled. I'm personally a huge fan of the engraved license plate—it's a great touch. The tires are real rubber and roll very smoothly, a treat for anyone who loves pushing their figures around. While there's some robot kibble on the undercarriage, that's an inherent trait of "shell-former" Transformers designs and is completely acceptable. I'd give the overall vehicle mode a solid 8.5 out of 10 for its execution.

Transformation Experience
When it comes to the transformation, I have to say, TMT Bumblebee's process is moderately complex but very intuitive and straightforward. For collectors familiar with shell-former designs, it's incredibly easy to get the hang of. The entire sequence is smooth, with no particularly tight or frustrating steps. However, I did notice on this sample that the manufacturer is still optimizing certain tabs, like those on the legs. The final version will reportedly use a more flexible soft plastic, so you won't have to worry about breakage. There's one small trick during the transformation: when combining the waist and legs, you need to bend the legs back one click, otherwise they won't fit together. Be sure to keep that in mind!

Robot Mode
Now, let's get to the main event: the incredible robot mode!

The overall screen accuracy here is just out of this world. The proportions are very natural, not at all bulky, and the backpack is impressively compact. It looks remarkably clean even from the back.

Alright, let's get a close-up of this head sculpt!

Just look at those eyes! The glossy paint finish gives them a vibrant, life-like quality. The detail work is truly top-tier. Even the weathering and rust effects throughout the body are tastefully applied and look so much better than the official promo shots.
I've placed the TMT Bumblebee next to the Threezero version so you can see a direct comparison.

Both figures are nearly identical in height, fitting the standard DX scale, so TMT's version will look great alongside other Threezero DX figures. From the front and side, the TMT figure has a slightly stockier build, and the leg sculpts are also very similar. The manufacturer is also paying close attention to fan feedback and plans to make further tweaks for the final release based on community input, such as smoothing out a protrusion on the leg and removing a groove on the outer thigh. Their commitment to detail is exceptional.
In terms of the paint application, I personally prefer TMT's vibrant, candy-like finish, though Threezero's more heavily weathered, grimy look has its own unique appeal. Let me know in the comments which one you prefer!

Articulation & Accessories
The articulation on TMT Bumblebee was a very pleasant surprise!

The figure features multiple ratchet joints that click satisfyingly into place, providing a solid and tight feel during posing. The range of motion is also fantastic, allowing for waist crunches, deep squats, and all sorts of dynamic, wide-stance poses. With die-cast parts in the back of the thighs, heels, and front of the feet, pulling off a perfect three-point landing pose is incredibly easy and stable.
The accessories are also loaded with exceptional craftsmanship.

Flipping up the panel on his head reveals the battle mask, and if you look closely, you'll see the amazing detail sculpted on the eyes underneath. Both arms feature concealed, foldable arm blades, which even have engraved Cybertronian glyphs. I absolutely love this level of detail.

It also comes with an arm cannon and a war hammer. The hammer's head even has an orange light-up feature that activates when it touches the cannon's muzzle, with three modes: steady, flashing, and breathing. This takes the playability to a whole new level. To attach the arm cannon, you simply rotate the hand 180 degrees—a very clever design.

Just look at some of the poses I was able to pull off effortlessly. Don't they look incredibly dynamic? With this articulation and these accessories, you can perfectly recreate any scene you can imagine.

Overall, this TMT Bumblebee delivers an outstanding robot mode and an excellent transformation design, with a vehicle mode that is more than screen-accurate. The manufacturer is also very receptive to fan feedback, and with several months to go before its March release, you can voice your opinions in the comments about things like paint style or tab preferences. The premium price point isn't cheap, but TMT produces limited quantities, so their prices tend to hold steady. For example, their previous Cybertronian Bumblebee still sells for over 700 on the secondary market. So for those worried about the price dropping later, you can buy with confidence.
