Unique Toys R-11 Buzz Guardian Bumblebee Review

Today I’m bringing you UT’s new release, Transformers 4 Bumblebee. UT released Transformers 4 Poison Bite a few months ago, and I believe that figure left a strong impression on many of you. I personally rated Poison Bite very highly. At the time, I even said that the manufacturer should strike while the iron was hot and release Bumblebee as well. Not long after, Bumblebee is finally coming out, and I’m bringing you an early review. How does the toy perform? Let’s find out together.
▼Because the one I have is a sample review copy, there is currently no official packaging, character card, instruction manual, or other paper items. These will be included with the mass-production release. The contents include the Bumblebee main figure, a replacement helmet piece, a pincer cannon, an arm blade, two sets of spiked wheels, and two sets of vehicle-mounted missiles.

▼Because this Transformers 4 Bumblebee has extremely human-proportioned anatomy, it essentially left no room for error for the designers. As a result, for many years—both official and third-party—there has not been a truly satisfying Transformers 4 Bumblebee release. More than ten years after the movie’s release, we finally have a Transformers 4 Bumblebee at a relatively high level of quality.

▼The default head sculpt is based on the final movie version. The face is painted in a gunmetal gray, and the eyes appear to be slightly oversized, which causes a small drop in screen accuracy. That said, the figure still looks quite good in hand. The entire eyeball is painted blue, which feels very much like an official-style approach.

▼By swapping the helmet part, you can also recreate the head sculpt from the concept art. You can choose whichever version you prefer. Bumblebee’s battle mask head sculpt was included with the earlier Poison Bite release, so if you purchased Poison Bite, you can also swap that battle mask head onto Bumblebee.

▼As a remold and repaint of Poison Bite, Bumblebee’s biggest changes in robot mode are in the chest armor, shoulder blades, and abdominal armor. Since Bumblebee’s vehicle mode is completely different from Poison Bite’s, the car shell has naturally been modified, and the shoulder armor design is also different. The chest armor has been replaced with the faux vehicle front used by Transformers 4 Bumblebee, and if you look closely, you can even see the blue headlights. Around the rib area, a single large sculpted piece is used to cover the multiple layers of folded car shell inside. The shoulder blades also use a single large cover piece. Personally, I think more detail could have been added here, as the current treatment feels a bit plain.

▼The legs follow UT’s familiar design style as well. Multiple layers of car shell are folded together and then refined with sculpted armor pieces, resulting in legs with a very strong muscular appearance. Coming up with this kind of design really shows the designer’s creativity.

▼Compared to Poison Bite, Bumblebee adds two small wing-like parts behind the head sculpt. The iconic spiked wheels from Transformers 4 Bumblebee are faithfully recreated, and players can adjust their position and orientation as desired. One of the bigger issues on the back in robot mode is the two small pieces of car shell behind the hips—these do not actually appear in the movie.

▼The head can rotate and tilt up and down at a large angle. The arms can rotate vertically and lift outward to about 90 degrees. The elbows bend well beyond 90 degrees and can rotate. The wrists can rotate, and the hands can fold inward. Since Poison Bite, UT has finally started using fully articulated hands. The thumb has one ball joint and two hinged joints, while the other three fingers each have two hinged joints.
The waist can rotate. The legs can kick forward and backward well beyond 90 degrees, though the side kick is less than 45 degrees. The thighs can rotate, the knees bend past 90 degrees, and the feet can tilt inward for ground contact. Aside from the limited side kick, Bumblebee’s articulation is generally very solid and more than sufficient for standard posing.

▼The weapons include Bumblebee’s iconic Transformers 4 pincer cannon. This pincer cannon uses the same mold as
Poison Bite’s and can be mounted directly onto Bumblebee’s forearm armor via a peg.
![]()
▼Like Poison Bite, Bumblebee is also equipped with a Dino-style arm blade. This arm blade did not appear in the movie; I assume the designer included it simply because it looks cool—and to be fair, it does look quite good.
![]()
▼The arm-mounted missile pods that Bumblebee used during the highway fight with Galvatron and the Hong Kong battle against fodder enemies were included with Poison Bite. I didn’t have my Poison Bite with me, so I couldn’t demonstrate Bumblebee’s mounting effect. Instead, I’ll show you Poison Bite’s setup—the accuracy is still very high.
![]()
▼This Bumblebee set also includes the vehicle missile pods originally used by Poison Bite, but Bumblebee doesn’t have a suitable mounting point for them. I couldn’t quite figure out where they were intended to be attached. Based on my testing, they can be plugged into the forearm armor ports. I think the manufacturer could consider adding a Bumblebee arm grappling hook accessory in the future, possibly using Dino’s grappling hook material as reference, and include it in later products.

▼The UT Bumblebee/Poison Bite mold has a fairly complex transformation. Poison Bite’s transformation process was relatively smooth overall. This time, Bumblebee took me quite a while to figure out, due to the lack of instructions and the significant changes to the arms, chest armor, and rear vehicle section. Once I understood it, the transformation became fairly smooth. When you receive the figure, there will be an instruction manual, so you won’t encounter the same issue I did.
Bumblebee’s vehicle mode has a very high level of completion. The car shell is extremely cohesive, and the iconic central black stripe from Transformers 4 Bumblebee is properly represented. Due to the complexity of the transformation, there are quite a few panel lines, but their size is within my acceptable range.
![]()
▼If you have Poison Bite, comparing the rear of Bumblebee’s vehicle mode will show that the changes here are quite significant. Of course, the car logo is not present—those who want it can add decals themselves.
![]()
▼Those who regularly watch my reviews know that I usually don’t talk about hiding robot parts on the vehicle underside. I honestly think obsessing over undercarriage concealment is unnecessary—who goes around staring at the bottom of a car? However, this time I want to show the vehicle underside specifically to demonstrate the space utilization. This is already the highest theoretical level of space efficiency possible. Anything more would require particle transformation like Poison Bite in the movie.
![]()
▼This UT Transformers 4 Bumblebee continues Poison Bite’s excellent design while making major changes to key sculpted parts and certain transformation structures. The figure looks great, with some minor differences from the movie design, but the in-hand appearance is very satisfying. If you already own Poison Bite, you can further expand Bumblebee’s weapon arsenal. The transformation is relatively complex, and the vehicle mode has a high level of completion. This is currently the highest overall-quality Transformers 4 Bumblebee on the market. After more than ten years, we finally have a Bumblebee at this level. For someone like me who already owns Poison Bite, this Bumblebee is absolutely a must-buy.
