▼Hello everyone, today I’m back with another new release from YOLOPARK: the AMK PRO Side Story Soundwave. After launching a batch of Transformers 7 toys, YOLOPARK has once again turned its attention to works from the earlier live-action movies. This Side Story Soundwave is the very first side story character figure released in the YOLOPARK AMK PRO line. How does the toy perform? Let’s follow the review and take a closer look.
The toy packaging box keeps the familiar YOLOPARK AMK PRO live-action movie product style. The outer sleeve features real images of Soundwave and Ravage. The top right and bottom sections of the sleeve show the YOLOPARK logo and Soundwave’s name. The back of the sleeve mainly displays Soundwave’s inner frame and armor parts, along with the assembled effect. Some standard toy production information is printed at the bottom. Inside, the box artwork uses a 2D line-art style illustration of Soundwave, something fans have surely seen many times before.

▼Inside the box are four sprues of parts. Three sprues are for assembling Soundwave’s main body, and the remaining one contains parts for Ravage and the display base stand. Since YOLOPARK produces pre-assembled models, once opened, you only need to follow the instructions to easily put the parts together for the final product. The assembly design of this Soundwave incorporates the strengths of previous releases, combining the best aspects of the series. The joint tightness is adjusted very well, and the assembly process is smooth and stress-free.
The completed set includes the main Soundwave body, a large blaster, three pairs of interchangeable hands, Ravage, Ravage’s cassette form, a bonus metal cassette, and a stand with base. Since Soundwave’s inner frame uses a lot of die-cast parts, and there are 17 die-cast armor pieces across the body, the quality is higher and Soundwave feels very weighty in hand.

▼This time, in addition to the line’s usual nearly full-body metallic paint, Soundwave also features extensive weathered rust effects. From the gaps in his faceplate you can clearly see reddish-brown rust paint details. Once batteries are installed, his eyes light up in red. The lighting feature has three modes: steady, flashing, and breathing.

▼The chest armor uses a single clear plastic piece, decorated with red line details and a high-quality printed Decepticon insignia. Through the transparent panel, you can also see the cassette chamber inside, which can store Ravage’s cassette form. We’ll get to that shortly.

▼The design language of Soundwave’s limbs emphasizes stability and strength. Even though he isn’t the heavy frontline warrior type among the Decepticons, the thickness of his armor is comparable to many frontline Decepticons. The armor, especially along the edges and corners, is covered with abundant asymmetric battle-damage paint chipping, perfectly fitting the war-torn Cybertron aesthetic.

▼For those familiar with the design of the side story characters, you may know that Side Story Soundwave and Side Story Optimus Prime share reused parts. The most obvious reuse on Soundwave is on the back, where the similarity to Side Story Optimus Prime is striking. Soundwave’s backpack design is basically Prime’s, with the round spine modified into a blocky armor piece reminiscent of G1 Soundwave. The toy captures this detail well. Since transformation structure isn’t a factor here, the back can fully prioritize accuracy and appearance. This is a major strength of YOLOPARK—never skimping on details or paint for the back of the figure.

▼Soundwave’s head can rotate, tilt up and down, and tilt side to side. The arms rotate vertically, with butterfly joints at the shoulders allowing forward extension. The arms lift laterally close to 90 degrees, the biceps rotate, and the elbows bend far beyond 90 degrees. The wrists rotate, and the default hands are articulated hands: the thumb has a ball joint, the index finger has two hinge joints, while the other three fingers move as one piece with two hinge joints.

▼The shoulder cannon attaches via a mechanical arm with two swivel joints and one hinge joint, allowing angle adjustments as needed. To maintain Soundwave’s sculpt, many joints require shifting nearby armor pieces for clearance. Adjusting the side torso armor allows waist tilt, and moving the skirt armor allows waist rotation. The legs kick forward over 90 degrees and backward close to 90 degrees. Extending the thigh joints allows side kicks slightly beyond 90 degrees. The thighs rotate, and the knees bend far beyond 90 degrees, with linked armor movement adding to the play value. The feet rotate, tilt in multiple directions, and the toes bend upward. Soundwave’s articulation continues the usual AMK PRO standard—he has nearly every joint you’d expect from a poseable model, more than enough for dynamic posing.

▼Aside from the shoulder cannon, Soundwave’s weapon set includes a large blaster. The blaster is covered with rust paint effects, and it attaches securely to Soundwave’s articulated hands via a peg on the grip.

▼This set also includes Ravage. Compared with the movie version, Ravage here is larger, but also more imposing and better for appreciating surface details. Ravage’s paint matches Soundwave’s style: fully metallic paint with heavy weathered battle-damage, and Decepticon insignias on the forelegs.

▼The robotic jaguar has 20 points of articulation. In addition to standard joints in the front and rear legs, the mouth, neck, and torso also feature articulation, allowing various poses.

▼YOLOPARK has also provided an accessory for Ravage’s cassette mode, made from an acrylic-like material. Opening Soundwave’s chest cassette chamber allows storage of this cassette, faithfully recreating the movie feature.

▼If you purchased through YOLOPARK’s official store during the preorder, you would also receive a special all-metal cassette bonus. The metal cassette is clearly more realistic than the acrylic one—the acrylic’s designs are flat-printed, while the metal version has engraved details. Despite its small size, the metal cassette feels hefty in hand. If possible, I recommend going for the bonus edition, as this little cassette is really well made.

▼The familiar AMK PRO snake-arm stand with circular base is included as always. The snake-arm can attach directly to Soundwave, holding very securely.

▼This time, however, YOLOPARK has also added a transparent stand for Ravage. Players can swap the snake-arm for this clear stand to display Ravage as needed. The transparent stand isn’t limited to Ravage—it can be used with other similarly sized Transformers as well, greatly increasing its versatility.

▼Overall, this YOLOPARK Side Story Soundwave brings together all the strengths of the AMK PRO series. The sculpt is highly accurate to the movie design, with full-body metallic paint complemented by high-quality rusted battle-damage effects. The line’s hallmarks—excellent articulation, light-up features, and heavy die-cast parts—are all preserved. This time, they’ve even included Ravage, finished to the same high standard, with both beast and cassette modes provided, so you don’t need to buy him separately. Considering how few Side Story Soundwave toys are on the market, YOLOPARK achieving this level is very satisfying to me.
