Grahf: Wow what a deal! A whole ten dollars off for an absolutely crippling to both modes breakage. I sure am kicking myself now for having purchased the Transart figure the other day at full price when I could've waited just a few more days and landed this beaut.

I've heard bad things about this one but is this a standard thing for this one? I would still like to get this one too as it does do a few things I do like.

Grahf: Thanks. Shame we don't get points from them anymore. Or rather, it's like once a week.

Robogeek1973: I'm still hoping for a Gigastorm version of this guy to come out, but I'm not sure if it's going to happen if this guy sold poorly.
Grahf: The price increase sure isn't going to help this sell well. Luckily I put the full preorder in months ago to lock in the original price.

Grahf: But seriously though, nobody liked my comment singing the song Lemon Tree by Peter, Paul and Mary.

Anyway, I STILL need to pick this one up.

Maybe I should stop being a bitch and just get one right now.

I think that's just what I'll do.

Ima do it.

Just you watch.

Pangu Toys PT11 Loki Cyclonus
Grahf: Forgot to get it here, got it from somewhere else. So while I can't leave an actual star rating, I will tell you what I would've left. That being 2 stars the same as I left for Silver Samurai. Except that would've been a 2.5 stars. This is a straight 2 stars.

Why?

Again, while these look beautiful, that's about all they have going on.

The joints are much looser on this than they were on Silver Samurai despite this being the older figure and should have less mold degradation.

The weapons in the hands are still way too loose. Like it's not even close. The right hand port is way too tight.

Didn't bother "transforming" it as I already know that the alt mode sucks.

The horns feel like they could break at any moment. There's a reason why you use different plastics for different things. This is one of those things that should've been made out of a more durable or bendable plastic.

The mind gem sceptre looks cool but since it's way too loose in the hands it really doesn't matter.

The soft goods scarf/cape is cool. It has a bendable metal rod though part of it so you're not going to want to manipulate that often as they're prone to breakage. You shouldn't need to though. This adds a little more flair to this release

I preordered Silver Samurai as soon as I seen it since I forgot to get this. Then while Silver Samurai was in the mail I found Loki and ordered it. I got SIlver Samurai in and regretted picking up Loki.

These LOOK amazing don't get me wrong. They're decently upsized and I love that they're done to look like Loki and Silver Samurai. That's very inspired and I love it. IDW Cyclonus horns look very Loki like. The armored skirt looks very Silver Samurai like. So that's where they came from.

It's just that I like to "play" with my toys. I like to pick them up and transform them or just fiddle with them for a while. I can't do that with these. They feel cheep and like they're going to break. The weapons don't fit in the hands. The weapons can't be stored well in either mode. Some people are having paint chipping and scratching problems. The joints are too loose. The "transformation" sucks and while that's Iron Factory's fault, Pangu could've done something to improve it.

I'm interested in Pangu's originally designed triple changer but I'm worried that it will be made of similar plastic to this. If so, that thing won't be able to hold up to more than a few transformations. And being a triple changer, that would majorly suck. Multi-changers above all others are meant to be fiddled with. So if they're not made out of better materials then they're going to suck big time.

If you collect just to put on a shelf then these are mostly fine. The price is way too steep for that given the size and the multiple problems though. But that's about all I can recommend these for. I won't be getting Cyclonus now and almost certainly won't be getting any other version unless it's stupid cool looking like this or Silver Samurai.
Gi One BSD01 Endless Equipment Poseidon Trypticon
YodaKYA: What's the weird walking whale mode? Is that from something?
Grahf: From the Takara Legends Magna. They were having fun with the figurure and found a "fourth" mode when they noticed that the tail looked like another head with its own eyes (which was intentional it seems as it really does). They then drew it as an official fourth mode in the manga. So it's the case of an official fan mode.
DNA Design DK-46DX Upgrade Kits for SS-101 Scourge
Grahf: This is the parts from DK-46 along with the Scourge parts from DK-49 but without the claw arm.

Owning these pieces I can safely say that I don't think this isn't worth it. Especially for the price they're charging for this without the claw arm. I really couldn't care less about the little disc thing that he shot at Airazor but that doesn't come with this either as it works with the claw arm.

The neck piece doesn't seem to want to connect to the ball peg of Scourge. Also the head is way too loose on its own neck joint. My usual way of using water based polyurethane to thicken up the joints didn't help either of these.

The mask doesn't stay on well either. Water based polyurethane did help here.

The shoulders are a bitch to get into position for truck mode.

The thigh fillers fall out easily but this can be fixed easily or just glued down.Water based polyurethane did help here.

The new inner chest with rib cage pieces sucks. Those rib cages pieces get in the way of transformation. The one on the figure's left side really gets in the way when moving the wheels and front bumper around. It can and most likely will just pop off the flat headed pin it's on as well.

You lose weapons storage with this kit. And their blade also has nowhere to store.

I doubt this will come with the bonus translucent blue right hand, blue sword and especially red claw. Those pieces are insanely stupid anyway.

Also, since the tabs those new front pieces connect to are prone to breaking, you might have to straight up glue those new pieces on.

This kit is listed at $55 other places. I feel that it's too much for what's here. Getting both sets normally isn't a great deal either though. While the parts aren't bad, I feel these are overpriced for what little is actually being offered especially without the claw arm. There's not one but two knockoffs out there that come with built in upgrades for only around $25. You're probably better off just getting one of those instead...if they're still available. This is coming from someone who has the Hasbro version and all three knockoff versions as well as most of the upgrades for them. Yes that's right, I have four Scourge and every one of them has some sort of aftermarket piece on it.

Oh and be warned, this new neck won't fit on the Black Mamba KO. The rest of the kit works fine on it though. The BMB neck ball peg is larger than stock and is one of the few things they changed for their version.

There was also something wonky with the left arm peg for one or two of the KOs compared to the original. I remember having to modify one of them to use the cannon arm on one of the other ones. All I did was cut off the "key" on the peg to turn it into a standard 5mm peg though. So nothing major. It's just that little rectangle on the side of the peg was too big to use some of the KO arms with.
Grahf: *"Owning these pieces I can safely say that I don't think this IS worth it."* Sorry, typo. It's a double negative in my original comment making it seem as though I do think that this set is worth it.
TransArt BWM-08 TransMetal Blackwidow
Grahf: Seems I didn't actually review it last year so here we go.

Today is round up day by the way. So this would be a 2.5 stars even though I marked it at 3.

This isn't going to be as detailed as normal but I wanted to put this up as there's a reissue coming soon.

So first things first. DO NOT JUST BEND THE SPIDER LEGS AS THEY WILL BREAK. The plastic isn't as durable as it should be and the paint on the legs has locked the joints up a bit. If you do bend the legs either heat the joints up or "choke up" on the leg as you bend. Actually do both the first time. You need to put the pressure on the parts nearest to the actual joint . This is the most logical thing to do but apparently dozens of people didn't have Shockwave as their senpai. Don't be that person who grabs the legs at the furthest parts from the joint to bend the legs and then complain when physics takes over and breaks the legs.

Should this much care be taken or should the joints be THAT tight? No. But that doesn't mean that you're not at fault for not taking basic joint manipulation logic into consideration either.

Regardless, be careful of the spider legs and bending them at the hinge for the first time.

Care should also be taken with connecting the legs to the ball pegs as well. Even being careful, there's a chance that the ball socket on the spider legs can crack during installation. This isn't so much user error as it is the material used for the ball pegs. So just be aware that this is also a point of easy breakage.

As for the rest of the figure:

It's not great but it's not horrible hence the 2.5 star rating. It does many things well but as is almost standard for Transart and even APC toys, when it comes to mostly original designs like this (this is nothing like the original TMII figure), they tend to not be as sturdy as their offerings that are mostly or entirely based on an original figure.

I wish TransArt didn't use a magnet for the "bra" feature. It's one of the weakest magnets ever and it will barely stay on even just standing there still. It's not even accurate either. The original toy had a bra over the bra that could come off via a screw. This is trying to replicate that I think but failed in that this is just the basic bra and not the piece that was added to the original toy that could come off. So not only does it fail the homage, it just fails in general.

I also wish that they maybe tried more to integrate the alt mode into the robot mode better. It's just a shell that gets put off to the side. While it can be attached to the figure, it doesn't really do even that well. I know it's more screen accurate this way but it would've been so much nicer if they at least tried to do something more with the shell pieces. They almost look good as the skirt pieces in robot mode but they didn't quite do it well enough for it to look really good or even just natural. A giant skirt like Animated Red Alert would indeed be cool but this is not that.

Overall the figure feels very light and somewhat brittle in places like the spider legs. It looks great and even plays and poses great but the kibble is a literal huge letdown. It's very middle of the road due to the positives mixed with the negatives. It's not horrible but it's not great. Good enough to look nice on a shelf and to fiddle with but not good enough to endure for long or to be a fiddle with transformer as it's a shellformer with a stupid magnet piece that never stays on.

I'd glue the damn chest piece on but it's now in a different spot than the figure due to the fact that it fell off and got put somewhere else.

For the price, I'd expect better.

Damn, maybe this is round down day. I forgot to factor in the price. So while this is still a 2.5, I'm going to mark it as 2 stars so people don't get the wrong idea in the average rating. Oh boy, I'm going to be the first 2 star review!

But man, some of those 5 star reviews be like: we fully acknowledge all the faults that everyone else is bringing up but I love it so 5 stars. That shit doesn't help anyone.

I just want people to know that this isn't all sunshine and rainbows despite me liking the figure. My opinion shouldn't affect the figure objectively.

The materials are objectively on the cheaper end compared to other TransArt figures. The figure is objectively prone to breakage one way or another careful or not. The magnet is objectively a stupid choice and annoying. The shell forming kibble is objectively poor design.

The figure is objectively fun to pose. The figure is objectively better than the original. The figure is objectively more screen accurate due to the partsforming kibble.

I subjectively ignore the faults and average in the positives. for my score of 2.5. I put 2 stars to try and balance out those comical 5 star reviews. NOTHING is "perfect". Especially figures with glaring issues.

LightningEdge756: This review is for a re-release correct? The re-release didn't make any sort of improvements?

By Aug 17,2024 09:09:29

Grahf: No, this is not a review for the re-release. As the first line says, I thought I reviewed it last year when I first got the figure but I didn't. So this is a review for the original release. As far as anyone knows, there hasn't been any confirmation one way or the other about any improvements with the mold. I just wanted to make sure that any new buyers understood any potential problems with the figure before purchasing.
Planet X PX-05 Quirinus Slug
Grahf: I have all six of their Dinobots and they're all pretty good. High Moon Studio made some interesting designs for the video games. Planet X brought them to life in a very interesting way.

Slag here is very pointy though so be careful of that.

I just wish they remade their Swoop as it's their oldest design and the rest came out quite a bit after it and by then the company changed the way they did things. So Swoop feels like such an odd figure next to the rest. And if they do plan on redoing Paddles, I hope they improve a few things on him. The mold was meant to be Sludge but Paddles was released first. The changes done to make Paddles don't quite work as well. The Dino neck is longer and doesn't store as securely as Sludge's neck. The flippers get in the way a bit too.

But ultimately they're a nice set of figures that look amazing together.

I never had any problems with any of them breaking though and I don't recall having seen or heard about others having problems like that either. So you shouldn't have to worry about that if you're just now discovering these figures.

These were somewhat made to scale with the old Generations Fall of Cybertron figures as that's when these started releasing. So that means these also somewhat scale with the current Studio Series Gamer Edition figures too. It would make sense that Hasbro will eventually get to the Dinobots themselves but it's not like these Planet X figures are expensive so there's room for both. Not that Hasbro will have a full set out any time soon since as far as we know, any SSGE Dinobots wouldn't start coming out until about 2026. So you can get the full set of Planet X reissues and have them for years before Hasbro gets around to theirs. And those of us who got these the first time around will have had them for almost 2 decades by the time Hasbro finishes them since it takes them forever if we're going by the SS86 Dinobots.
Gi One BSD01 Endless Equipment Poseidon Trypticon
Grahf: Okay there's a few things that need to be addressed right off the bat.

1: This is NOT so called legends scale.

2: This is NOT meant to scale with Siyang Culture's Metroplex.

3: I fucking love this figure.

So if not so called legends scale what is this supposed to be? It's literally in the name of the company. Gi One. Get it? G1.

When I opened the box and got it out of the tray a few days ago I was flooded with memories of when I was a kid. This is almost the exact same size as G1 Trypticon. While I sold mine a few years back and I can't be 100% certain, I'm pretty sure this is G1 toy scale. Think of this as a sort of "Missing LInk" figure. Judging by pictures online of Titans Return with G1 and TR with Gi One Trypticons, Gi One and G1 look to be just about the same sizes.

Onto the actual review though.

Nothing is stressed on mine nor do I have any parts splitting. However may joints are loose and are especially noticeable in the knees. I don't think the plastic is cheap or whatever else others are calling it.

The figure doesn't feel too light either. People seem to be forgetting that TR Trypticon was intentionally hollow throughout the entire figure to accommodate the Titanmaster eating gimmick. While this doesn't have that feature and has closed off most of the spots internally, it's still hollow on the inside intentionally as a result. I was expecting this. The actual TR Trypticon is much lighter than it's size would suggest but not in a cheap way and this is no different. In fact, this would actually be heavier than a complete 1:1 undersized TR Trypticon would be as this has more plastic on the inside due to neutering the gimmick and this also has metal used in several spots. This is all a long way of saying that this figure weighs about as much as I would've expected. I would expect a figure of this size to be picked up by one hand and not be too heavy. I mean, it's barely bigger than a commander class now and you can do that with those so why wouldn't this feel about the same?

There's not much to say about the transformation that hasn't already been said as it's just a smaller TR Trypticon. The parts mostly do the exact same things and move in the exact same ways. The main difference is in the lack of the chest components. So not only can't you hook up a Full Tilt here if there was one but you also can't form the central tower for city mode. And again, it can't "eat" any Titanmasters or other small figures.

I mentioned metal before. The only spots I noticed it in was the purple walking stabilizer cannons on the sides of the feet that no longer serve either function. and then the green armatures the hips are on for transformation.

City mode is city mode. Other than the lack of a central tower, it's the same as the original's.

Crawling dragon mode is what it is. It's a "fourth" mode that the Takara designs "found" and later made canon in the Legends Manga. The tail was designed to look like another head and mouth and has eyes so that's how it all came about. It is what it is as it's basically just a fan mode made somewhat official.

The spaceship mode is good. Being this size you can pick it up and swoosh it around. Which is exactly what I was expecting and wanted. TR Trypticon is so cool but it's just too big and heavy to do anything with. Same with all the titans really. I'd love to play with them all more but I can't. They just stand around stoically regardless of their articulation or aftermarket parts.

The robot mode is fine other than the loose joints. Not only the knees but also the arms and tail. I took things apart to see what I could do about it. I used some water based polyurethane (Kiki) to tighten up the knees and the "mouth" part of the tail as well as the shoulders, elbows, wrists and cannons. For the base of the tail I didn't do anything to keep it from drooping but I did notice that there's a ratchet piece on the inside that might have been engaged incorrectly at first. I didn't do anything to the tail at the base but take it apart and put it back together but it's now no longer droops at the tail base. The opening part of the tail no longer droops now that I tightened up those joints too. The knees can now hold poses for days on end (I've been testing it and is why I didn't review sooner). The arms are still a little more loose than I'd like but it's not like the arms need to do anything that needs the tighter joints.

I can't wait to see if they do more titans at this size as it would be perfect for most of them. Roughly Marvel comics sized Fort Max and Scorponok would be amazing. Omega Supreme would be mostly scaled to Legacy Menasor too. Tidal Wave would be the proper height.

Putting this next to Magmatron and either BW Megs as well as the one picture posed next to miner Megs shows exactly why I love this figure. This is BWII Gigastorm sized! I will buy another if they do make him. Change a few colors and add a horn and done.

I got what I was expecting here.
Grahf: One more note though. I put in a full preorder at the original price of $85. So that's all I paid. They raised the price to $120 before release and then put it on "sale" at $95 after. So this might have affected my review a bit as I didn't spend as much as others. Maybe if I had I would've been slightly more critical of it as $85 was the perfect price for me especially without Full Tilt and the chest pieces. I'm also very glad I locked in that original price too. I would've been fucking angry if I got hit with a $118 invoice if I kept the $1 + $1 down payment.
Takara Tomy Missing Link C-01S Sentinel Prime w/ Trailer
Grahf: Yeah that's not the vehicle Sky Spy scanned for Optimus Prime's vehicle mode template. That was a dark reddish orange cab. Darker/more red than Huffer but brighter/more orange than Optimus. It also didn't have the silver stripes.

Marvel UK Sentinel Prime is bright yellow though. Except he secondary color is orange and not Optimus Prime blue. Otherwise there's no other Sentinel Prime that is close to this color wise.

That's what throws me off the most about this. The fact that they didn't change the shade of blue.

But at least now third party and KO companies will have something else to draw inspiration from with their Optimus Prime redecos instead of the same roughly four decos over and over while usually ignoring the other five or so decos they could do instead.

Still though, I'd rather just Shining Magnus colors. Bright Yellow with black. But then the trailer wouldn't be right.

But I mean, Magna Convoy is a different character from Delta Magnus so they could've done that. Or all white like when he's battling the hate plague. Or all gold from the lagoon. Darker blue with red feet. Convoy black version (Autobot not Decepticon). Convoy gold version (gold instead of silver). G2. Shattered Glass. Dead. Nemesis Prime. Robotmaster Lucky Draw. There's a few decos Takara could've done before having to do something like this. And that's before having to get into licenced decos like the many BAPE colors, Evangelion, Pepsi, Ghostbusters, 7 Eleven or IPOD colors.

If anything, this is closest to the Lebron James colors. Silver stripe. Brighter yellow orange Sunny Delight looking color. The face and blue don't match though.

Regardless, point being is that there's options for actual Optimus Prime redecos without having to make stuff up.

If they wanted to do a powder blue with orange version called Sentinel Prime though that would've worked better. At least for the name.
