NewAge H10B Abadon Kickback, H11B Berial Shrapnel & H12B Asmodeus Bombshell Set of 3
Grahf: Kickback, Shrapnel and Bombshell? All I see are Shothole, Zaptrap and Salvo. Sure would like it if Hasbro got around to these decos in a three pack or something. But you know, there's no more ideas for Generations Selects past Antagony this year. Not a single other release they could do.

Grahf: Seems some people in the comments don't know who New Rodimus is.

I find this extremely interesting. I'm still not into so called Masterpiece figures but this is a deep pull and I like it for that. I would love if Hasbro retooled Inferno into New Rodimus. Well, it wouldn't actually take much to do myself actually. I'm just not up to doing it at the moment.

TFC Toys Poseidon Set of 6 Figures
Grahf: Prices are listed.

Yeah no.

I'll be just fine continuing to not have this in the collection.

It took a LONG time to sell out the first time around at these prices and this time around will most likely not be any different. This is rather steep for a set that came out for at least 7 years ago and needed to be clearanced off the last time around.

TFC are pretty much nobodies in the third party scene now since they've been dormant for so long. And it's not exactly like they took that break while on top either as they were pushed out by better companies coming up and taking their spot by force. So they switched to original figures and fell flat due to their insane prices. Then they did a new Optimus out of nowhere that they keep redecoing and retooling more than a Seeker but was at least well received. After that was an overblown and overpriced Megatron that came and went with little fanfare from Transformers or GI Joe fans. Now they're reissuing overpriced combiners.

As I stated in my comment last week, I LOVE Piranacon. I have an emotional attachment to the set from the 80's. And I'm telling you that I don't NEED this set at that price.

TFC needs to reexamine the current market and their place in it. People do not have this kind of money anymore, even those of us who actually do. They should've gotten a clue from other companies lowering the prices of their reissues by quite a bit so that even people like me who don't normally bother with third party figures are going back and picking them up due to how low the reissues are.
FansHobby MB-15B Naval Commander Armada Nemesis Prime
Grahf: Okay. They have not one but TWO figures they could take from to base this on yet it's accurate to neither.

This is at least close to the Takara version but there's quite a few inaccuracies. Shade of the teal. Color of the chest. The color on the feet. Shade of the windows? Can't really tell on that yet. Minor quibbles but still inaccurate, especially the chest as it's throwing off the entire homage.

I won't get this regardless. I just don't like the look of Naval Commander in general. The base figure here is proportioned all wrong. Without the huge American football style shoulder pad looking shoulders and the more stubby torso, the whole aesthetic for this is thrown off. It looses the draw of the design in the first place for me. Dude should be looking like Gundam Maxter or at least something like Bolt or Grizzly Gundam.

The super mode does look better though. However did they even really try to mitigate the kibble? What they did looks good don't get me wrong but now it really just ends up looking like a skirt like Animated Red Alert or something. In general it's also one of their more puffy/bloated looking designs which is another turn off for me.
Iron Factory EX-72 The Fallen
Grahf: With the rumors of a new leader class Fallen next year in the new Generations: Prime? line, I kinda wanted another smaller one to go with that. I already have the old Power Core Combiner Chaos Paladin but wouldn't mind this one either.

That was until I seen that the innermost joints for the elbows and knees are using translucent plastic.

Seriously?!?!?!

No thanks. I don't want to take that risk. It just seems like a bad time waiting to happen.

So this will be a wait and see for me now. I'll probably forget about it by then though.

Oh well. Either way, money saved.
DNA Design DK-54 Upgrade Kits for Animated Optimus Prime w/ Bonus
Grahf: Well now!

That sure was worth the time waiting for.

Now THAT right there is a good kit. It's just a shame that it took four bad ones to get to and that there's like four more bad ones that are going to come out after this. I couldn't even care less about the missing battle mask or the lack of fillers (as I don't care about them anyway since this has been an issue since I was a kid in the 80's and got used to it 4 decades ago), I think this kit is good to go as is.

Useful parts that add to the base figure in a meaningful way and have places to go in alt mode that look good all while staying true to the source material. This is what all upgrades should be.

Replace or swap out parts if/when needed. Just make sure that what you're adding/swapping is worth it. Just adding new parts for the sake of it that don't actually look all that different, don't do much of anything or  don't change the way the other mode looks is just a waste. Like for instance the new hands and feet for SS Cheetor. They don't really look any different than the stock parts and stick out just as badly in alt mode. So why bother if they don't actually do anything? If the robot hands and feet actually hid away or did something to minimize their presence in alt mode then maybe. But as is, all they do is stick out more in alt mode while only slightly altering the look for robot mode.

Oh and the color match on these is really good. That's another thing they've been failing at lately otherwise.
Craftsman Toys DJS-02A Tacticlord Orill Nosecone
Grahf: Well...at least it's not the start of another Devastator.

Computron is cool and he doesn't get done often. Really only five of them out there. G1, CW, UW, Maketoys and Warbotron. So one more won't hurt.

Oh it's so called legends scale.

Nevermind.

I mean they're cool and all but they're usually overpriced for what they are. And I don't really collect that so called scale.

'So called legends scale' because they don't actually scale to the legends class which is their namesake. Each company made up their own small scale. Some companies made up several different so called legends scales on top of it. So not only can't really mix and match between the companies to supplement a collection, but you might not even be able to stick to just one company as they changed sizes.

Oh well, doesn't really matter though.

If this is priced decently and ends up looking cool enough I might think about it.

I mean, who knows if this is even going to be finished as this company hasn't even made anything yet. And what's that? This is the same company that has a Tigerhawk up for preorder? I put down a deposit on that. Let's check that out real quick to remind myself. second quarter of 2024 and no updates? Hmmm......
Black Mamba MX-6601 Studio Series SS109 Megatron
Grahf: A seemingly unaltered 1:1 KO of the second most overrated figure HasTak figure in years. At least it's cheaper and more easily available.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great robot mode. The tank is acceptable but only just. The jet mode is complete trash though and it shouldn't have been. Or rather, there's an easy fix that would've solidified it and made it more visually appealing.

It's just for a figure that was supposedly based on Transformers Animated Season 4 Marauder Megatron, this missed the mark entirely.

Again though, the robot mode is fantastic. It's like an Action Master...er...uh...R.E.D. figure. But those alt modes leave a lot to be desired.

This figure had no original base design as he wasn't even in that movie. So it could've been ANYTHING, including Marauder Megatron, but instead it was disappointing.

The quick fix was to have the hips work like Studio Series BB Shockwave in that they break and spread out at a 45 degree angle at the upper thighs and hips. Then spin the legs 90 degrees like normal. Open up the wings on the lower legs and take out the thrusters. Then collapse the lower leg onto the upper leg but instead of it being at a 'V' shape. Make it bend in at a full 180 degrees like a 'll' shape. Then snap the thrusters behind the thighs where the hips were and there you go.

This way all the leg parts are parallel with the body of the jet making things look more cohesive and everything would be more stable. As it is now, it looks like 'VVV' due to the angles of the legs but should look more like 'llVll'. And since the legs don't tab in anywhere securely, the sides of the jet droop and come untabbed from the front pelvis flaps as well as the arms underneath. That's IF you can even get the arms to tab into the legs as moving the parts into a position where they do tab in, untabs the pelvis flaps from the thighs. The parts just don't line up properly no matter how I fidget with everything. On and good luck trying to tab the Fusion Cannon in underneath and have it be straight. And it's really funny that they designed this tiny almost completely unnoticeable tab and slot

This would also leave room between the body of the jet and the sides of the jet. They could've put the arms there to really lock everything together and it would've cleaned up the underside of the jet by not having arms just hanging out down there. Finish off by having the Fusion Cannon do something, anything better than the nothing it does for all the modes. For something with so many moving parts, it doesn't actually do anything more than just be the exact same Fusion cannon for all three modes.

But yeah, $30 instead of $55 is amazing! Kinda jealous actually lol.

Preordered on Amazon and had to wait forever for a $55 figure that wasn't worth the price yet everyone was seemingly raving about. This is coming from someone who thinks leader Astrotrain, Shockwave, Sandstorm, Doubledealer and Springer are worth it too. ER Optimus, SS86 Starscream and G2 Optimus aren't though.
Grahf: Bring on those dislikes. I'm not going to pretend that this is a great figure. It's objectively not. It fails in one mode outright and another is subpar at best. Only one mode is any good.
Black Mamba MX-6602 Studio Series SS103 Rhinox
Grahf: Why?

Imagine being one of the best knock off toy companies out there and then having more than half your offerings not worth getting.

I miss CHMS so much.

I miss KOLD so much.

I miss these KO companies that actually went above and spoke to the people actually purchasing their stuff to see what they wanted...and then actually did it. Why out of all kompanies to go down and not come back doing the same stuff was it these two?

Instead they're wasting time making 1:1 KOs of figures people don't want. Scourge and Optimus were one thing; but Rhinox, Cheetor, Battletrap and Mirage are another. There's no need for this trash. Not trash in the sense that they're not good figures but trash in the sense that they're unnecessary.

So many more figures could use the upsize treatment. Maybe not as large as they're making some of them but still. And there's far too many figures that still have redecos left to do. Others that have upgrades that don't get factored in when made. Some that need upgrades yet they don't try. Just boring replicas of figures that didn't sell well the first time around, even when on discount. It's not that they can't or don't upgrade things themselves because they have before (Legacy TM2 Megatron and Nitro Zeus). They've also added in KOs of third party upgrade kits before as well (SS AoE Grimlock and Starscream).

Do Cryotek. Then turn it into BWII Galvatron without the tank mode. Make Tarn into RiD 2015 Megatronus. Do Bludgeon with some of the upgrades and then make Banzaitron and RiD 2015 Blastcharge. Do SS Cheetor as BW Ravage and Transmetal Tigatron since you can use the beast head in robot mode just like their original toys. For the love of Primus, go back and redo Battletrap's arms. There might not be any 'helping' Mirage but Battletrap can still be 'fixed'.
Takara Tomy AMT-01 Adamas Machina Rodimus
Grahf: This really is standard retail huh? Cheapest I've seen is $152ish. But that's Amiami and the price could either go up or down depending on the current exchange rate. I'd like to wait and see what they charge for it here. A set price that won't fluctuate would be nice to see. Plus the triple points.

This is larger than I thought it would be. I expected about 7 inches but it's 9 inches...that's what she said. We knew the price at first and it was higher that we're actually seeing now. With the original price shown and my expectations of it being a smaller figure, I was going to pass. It would've been priced too high. But with the more accurate lower price and with the figure being larger, this might not be too bad of a pickup.

I wonder if MMC and SXS will reissue theirs to coincide with this official release. I never did get those figures in their standard colors for the MMC release and not at all for the SXS.

Shame MP figures aren't designed and priced like this. Takara needs to reevaluate their business strategy when it comes to the Transformers brand.

Primus though, I really hate those toon aesthetics on the G1 MP figures. They look like shit. Well, that's because they're trying to emulate a oftentimes badly drawn American cartoon from the 80's. I love G1 and all, but I don't want my figures to look as close as possible to those character models. Not for those prices. It works for Beast Wars and the movies but not for G1.
